My opinion is that EVEN if NAR makes money off this I will never benefit at all.
We are being USED like professional baseball players got used before free agency. They were the show, but received almost nothing... just like WE create all the work product, are forced to pay hundreds $$/yr to belong to Realtor Associations, who then give away our data to aggregators and we get nothing of

@Lloyd: Some have suggested that RPR might just be a channel on syndicator dashboards (like Threewide or Point2). That may not be practical for several reasons (MLSs usually can veto syndicator channels, and off-markets usually don't go in syndication), but it would address the update issue.

I agree with point two -- there are other players out there that have access to data that will be coming up with similar models and accuracy. Others will step to the plate to play and the MLS Associations will have options and that's good for the industry.

Great advise Brian.

Everyone should take a deep breath and relax. The RPR team is just getting out of the gate and they have a long way to go.

The first step on their journey will be the Terms of Use for MLS data. If you think the noise is loud now, wait until that document is circulated. Should be very interesting.

Great overview Brian. One of the challenges RPR will face if they have to obtain listings directly from brokers, will be data accuracy. We all know that is one of the biggest problems all of the current syndication portals face now.
I do however, think RPR can provide REALTORS a number of products and services in one location for an exceelent price, even if it isn't free.

There are some other "facts" (as in, they are currently unreliable, but may become reliable over time) that need to come out.

I'm thinking particularly of Move, Inc. I gather that they're not exactly ready to concede the market to RPR.

We'll see what the next few weeks bring.
